COVERAGE YOU NEED

COBRA and Direct Billing 

COBRA stands for the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act. It’s a law that allows you and your dependents to continue group health benefits on a temporary basis. It starts when you’d otherwise lose health coverage due to certain events, such as:

  • End/loss of a job, whether the choice was yours or not (for reasons other than gross misconduct) 
  • Loss/reduction of hours 
  • Divorce or legal separation from your spouse, who is the covered employee
  • Death of your spouse, who is the covered employee
  • Eligibility for Medicare
  • Loss of dependent status and coverage for a child or adult in your care

With Direct Billing, you can pay for insurance premiums directly through the PayFlex member website. This is usually for retirees, employees out on disability and those taking a leave of absence.

Medical: deductibles, copays, co-insurance, health care provider visits, prescription drugs, over-the-counter items, insulin, diabetes syringes and supplies, annual wellness exams, chiropractic treatments and other medical expenses

Dental: checkups and cleanings, fillings, root canals, crowns, bridges, dentures, mouth surgery, orthodontics (braces) and other dental expenses

Vision/hearing: exams, eyeglasses, prescription sunglasses, contact lenses and cleaning solutions, corrective eye surgery (LASIK, cataract), hearing exams, hearing aids, batteries and other vision or hearing expenses
