JUST LIKE AN FSA
How adoption assistance works
Think of adoption assistance like a flexible spending account (FSA) for common eligible adoption expenses. These might include:
- Adoption agency fees
- Travel expenses, including meals and lodging while away from home
- Court costs
How does it work? Employees contribute pretax money from their paycheck. They can use the money for eligible adoption expenses during the plan year. Depending on their plan, employees may be eligible to contribute up to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) limit of $14,300 for each child they adopt. As the employer, you may set a lower limit.
